The blaze broke around just before 7 a.m. Sunday, May 19. Shelton Patrol Officer Michael Kichar of the Shelton Police Department was on his way to work when he observed smoke coming from a residence at 184 Meadow St. in Shelton.
Kichar called 911 and then was able to wake and alert the residents of the home and help them and the family dog escape, Shelton Police said.
The Shelton fire department was assisted by members of the Monroe and Trumbull fire departments. The fire was brought under control just before 8:30 a.m. There were no reported injuries to the residents or any firemen on scene.
The origin of fire is currently under investigation by the Shelton Fire Marshal’s Office.
